Baptism
For the last 2000 years the church has continued to do the stuff that Jesus did.
One thing about which Jesus was very clear was baptism. He told His disciples to train people in the ways of His kingdom and the act of baptism in water was to be a mark of their involvement.
“Jesus said … go and make disciples…baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commended you.” (Matthew 28:18-20).
He also set the example by asking to be baptised himself. "When all the people were being baptised, Jesus was baptised too." (Luke 3:21).
So, as followers of Jesus, we continue to baptise one another because Jesus did it and because He told us to. Baptism is a powerful symbolic event which provides a great opportunity for you to think carefully through your decision to follow Jesus and then to share that choice with your family and friends and the community of faith.
