Leeds Vineyard

Join In

We are really pleased that you want to find out more about Leeds Vineyard. We know it can be difficult to find your way into a new group of people especially when it is all online. But we are a friendly bunch who would love to meet you so here are some suggestions for what you could do:

  • Join us for weekly worship online one Sunday morning or watch a recent service on YouTube or Facebook;
  • Connect and tell us what you’d like to know more about;
  • Find out what is happening near you - we divide the city into Neighbourhoods;
  • You can email office@leedsvineyard.org or call 0113 230 2139 and ask to speak to one of the team;
  • Often, after weekly worship online, there is an opportunity to jump into a Newcomers’ Zoom when you can have meet David & Alison, our senior pastors and other newcomers.

We have plenty of friendly and welcoming Small Groups. You can check out a few and find one that works for you. You may wish to join the next Alpha Course if you want to find out more about the Christian faith.

Before you get too settled we ask you to attend the next Discovering Vineyard Small Group (this runs for 10 weeks each term for people who are new to the Vineyard). David & Alison lead this group and introduce our vision, values and priorities in the context of a welcoming small group. It's a great place to ask questions and discover what we are about. After a few weeks you will know whether Leeds Vineyard is a great place for you to call home!

There is no formal membership at Leeds Vineyard, and you are welcome to become involved as much or as little as you wish. But if you decide to make Leeds Vineyard your home there are some characteristic ways in which you can belong. None are mandatory - we don't have membership criteria - but they are all symptoms of healthy discipleship and engagement with the church family:

Celebrate on Sundays
By making weekly worship online the priority, followers of Jesus make a statement to their community and to each other that our worship together, albeit in a digital world, is a high calling. We celebrate what God is doing in our lives, we learn to worship online, we listen and learn together and make prayer ministry central. Before and after weekly worship online we have various other meetings for different age groups, for prayer ministry, prophetic encouragement, to share communion and just to catch up and share each other’s news.

Do life with a small group
When you have finished the Discovering Vineyard group please join another Small Group. There are all sorts to choose from. They are clustered in three broadly (but not legalistically) geographical Hubs which cover Leeds. They meet in different ways, at different times with different styles and purposes. Find one that works well for you. More information about Small Groups here.

Join a team
"Everyone gets to play" and we are learning to serve each other and our community during the restrictions of the pandemic. Find somewhere to serve and join a team where you can share your gifts and interests and know that you are doing your bit in the church family and for the mission God has given us. This could be helping with communications and technology, looking after Vineyard House, serving the poor and struggling, volunteering for the Child Contact Centre and so on.

Pray for Leeds Vineyard and our leaders
Please make a habit of praying for David and Alison and the leaders. Keep an eye on the life of the church so that you can pray for the whole family too. Here is some helpful guidance about how to pray.

Give to God's family
Regularly give a proportion of your income to the church. We don't often have offerings or collections - we leave it up to you to set up a standing order or transfer funds from your bank account. At this time, unfortunately, we can’t offer a way to give cash. You can find more here.

If leaving another church, leave well
We are honoured by every person who chooses to make Leeds Vineyard their home. If you have come from another church we ask that you ensure that you have the blessing of your previous pastor(s) as you leave.

Join us on myChurchSuite
This will mean that you receive David’s regular blog to the church, it gives you access to more information about who is who (our address book), it let's you see when you're down to serve (if you're part of a team) and allows you to easily sign up for upcoming events run by Leeds Vineyard. For safeguarding and privacy reasons, ChurchSuite logins are only open to those who regularly attend a Small Group. You can apply to join here.
