Leeds Children's Hospital Heart Unit
You may be aware that there is currently a review of children's heart surgery in England with a move to reduce the number of centres. The Children's Heart Unit at the LGI where our daughter Evie was treated is one of the units under threat of closure. If Leeds were to close, it would mean that children requiring heart surgery in Yorkshire would have to travel to Newcastle, Birmingham, Leicester or Liverpool to receive treatment The LGI is currently one of the few centres where at risk babies can be born, cared for and operated on, all under one roof, without needing to travel to another hospital. Obviously this is something that has affected us directly as a family and has the potential to affect a lot of other families in a similar position to us. If you would like to find out more, there is further information and a petition to save the unit at www.chsf.org.uk.

Signed it Helen. Totally support this. Having worked in this unit many years ago when it ran from Killingbeck hosp (now closed down); it is one of the most valuable and (sadly for the children)well used. It would be a sad loss.
